On April 5th, at approximately 1:30 pm, authorities in Hong Kong received a call reporting a potentially life-threatening situation involving a foreign woman who was reportedly attempting to take her own life by jumping off a building. Promptly responding to the emergency call, both police and firefighters arrived at the scene around 2:00 pm.
The urgency of the situation became immediately apparent as the woman was spotted sitting on a clothes drying rack that was situated outside the building. What's more, there was no protective netting or other safety measures in place to prevent the woman from falling, leaving her in an incredibly precarious position.
Despite repeated attempts by police and firefighters to persuade the woman to come back inside the building where she would be safe, their efforts were met with resistance. The woman, seemingly unafraid of the consequences, clung to the drying rack with one hand while waving her feet in the air, shouting, "I want to die, I'm useless." The situation was alarming, to say the least.
Acting quickly, the firefighters on the scene decided to take matters into their own hands. With great courage and skill, they reached out and grabbed the woman firmly, preventing her from falling or causing herself any further harm. They then proceeded to bring her down safely to the ground, making sure that she received the help and support she so desperately needed.
Subsequent police investigations revealed that the foreign woman in question was just 25 years old and had been struggling with suicidal thoughts after a conflict with a friend. Her nationality was not released to the public.
